A mum has vowed never to eat KFC again after discovering what she believed was a “chicken brain” inside her family bucket meal.
Rebecca McLoughlin, 23, was disgusted after she began tucking into her KFC lunch and found she thought was a nasty surprise.
It was not until she was 20 minutes into her lunchtime treat when she uncovered the nugget while biting into a piece of chicken.
A closer inspection revealed what she believed to be a small brain inside, My London reports.
KFC conceded that the dish “did not look great”, but said it was from a natural and harmless part of the chicken.
Rebecca ordered the KFC meal from her local branch in Harrow Wealdstone, north London, on March 2.
The mum, from Harrow, said: “One of the pieces I bit into didn’t taste right then I started picking at it and discovered a brain like piece in the chicken and straight away I panicked and was in pure disgust.
“My initial thought was don’t throw the piece away. Everyone stopped eating and went looking for the receipt.”
Rebecca, who was enjoying the meal with her three-year-old son, claims she reported the issue to customer support.
The following morning, she felt sick and has since vowed never to eat at a KFC again.
Taking to social media, she also warned locals about the quality of the chicken at the KFC restaurant in Harrow Wealdstone.
Other KFC customers replied to Rebecca’s warning and shared their own gruesome tales.
Commenting on Facebook, one person said: “Always feel unwell after eating at the Harrow Weald branch.
“I won’t be eating KFC anymore that’s for sure. It’s been a while anyway so I’m already not missing it.”
Another person said: “KFC Harrow Weald is the worst place. I had an experience when my friend bought a bucket of chicken.
“The outer part was fried but the inner part was smelling and not fried at all. We could even see blood on them when its opened up.
“Sometimes there are even feathers still on the wings. Til now, because of that experience, we are scared to use any of the KFC outlets.”
KFC commented that the food item appeared to be natural and harmless and that they were reaching out to the customer.
A KFC spokesperson told My London: “Hands up. This doesn’t look great, but it looks like a natural part of the chicken to us.
“This sometimes happens when dealing with fresh chicken. It’s harmless but it goes without saying it’s not appealing and shouldn’t be there, so we’re reaching out to the customer to make things right.”
The Mirror has contacted KFC for further comment.
