SINGAPORE, April 8 (Xinhua) — SINGAPORE, April 8 (Xinhua) — From April 8, Singapore has begun administering the fourth dosage of COVID-19 vaccine to older adults aged 80 and over.
The fourth dosage, commonly known as the second booster dose, will be available to persons over the age of 80, those living in nursing homes, and those at risk of serious illness owing to compromised immune systems or severe chronic disease.
Given increasing worldwide evidence on the diminishing of vaccination protection against serious disease over time, Singapore’s Health Minister Ong Ye Kung addressed a news conference on March 24 that certain groups of individuals should have a second booster dose.
