Musk makes a mysterious comment following Twitter’s purchase proposal.
Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur who attempted to buy Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) for $43 billion, tweeted a series of dashes for a missing word followed by the phrase “is the Night.”
Musk’s offer, which has hinted at a hostile acquisition, has prompted the social media company to create a “poison pill” strategy to protect itself.
Musk, the CEO of Tesla Inc (TSLA.O), tweeted “Love Me Tender,” an Elvis Presley song, on Monday after Twitter opted to sell shares at a discount to prevent owners from collecting a holding of more than 15%. Musk now owns 9.1% of the firm.
According to two people familiar with the situation, Musk is willing to put up $10 billion to $15 billion of his own money to take Twitter private, according to the New York Post.
According to the report, the billionaire, who is Twitter’s second-largest shareholder, intends to make a tender offer in 10 days and has engaged Morgan Stanley to raise an additional $10 billion in debt.
According to the New York Post, Musk may also be ready to borrow against his current ownership if required, which might result in a multibillion-dollar windfall.
