Faisal Zaman escaped from a sub-jail.
Faisal Zaman, a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) who was arrested at the MPA hostel for allegedly being involved in the murder of a PTI leader, escaped from the sub-jail on Friday.
In December 2020, the PTI leader was arrested for reportedly murdering another PTI leader, Malik Tahir Iqbal, and the MPA hostel was proclaimed a jail for the jailed MPA at the request of Speaker of the KP Assembly.
Following his detention, Faisal Zaman’s bail was revoked by an anti-terrorism court, and guards were stationed in the sub-jail to monitor his activities.
According to sources, the MPA escaped the sub-jail on Friday afternoon. Closed-circuit video (CCTV) footage saw him departing the hostel and escaping in a waiting vehicle.
On September 13, 2020, PTI Malik Tahir and his companion Sardar Gul Nawaz were killed.
