Shakira and Pique Fragmented ‘after he was caught cheating.’

Shakira, the pop singer, has announced her divorce from longtime partner Gerard Pique.

Rumors of the couple’s breakup began to circulate earlier this week, with Spanish media reporting that the Barcelona man had strayed.

And Shakira, 45, confirmed their split in a statement issued through her publicist, though she made no mention of Pique’s alleged infidelity.

“We regret to confirm that we are parting ways,” it said.

For the sake of our children’s safety, which is our top priority, we ask that you respect their privacy. “Thank you for your understanding.”

According to reports in Spain this week, former Manchester United player Pique has been “staying alone in his room.”

The World Cup winner is said to have been out and about in Barcelona’s famous nightlife with his friends, including teammate Riqui Puig.

And his partying has been ‘out of control,’ according to Marca.

Pique, 35, met Shakira while training in Madrid in preparation for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The Colombian singer’s hit single Waka Waka was the tournament’s official song, and the defender appeared in the video.

“It all started when we were in South Africa and I wrote to her,” Gerard explained.

A year later, they confirmed their relationship.

Milan, their first child, was born in January 2013.

Sasha, the former couple’s second child, was born in January 2015.
