India unleashed a brute state apparatus to browbeat Muslims.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has condemned the Indian government for the ongoing brutality and state oppression of Indian Muslims following protests against BJP leaders’ blasphemous remarks about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The prime minister said on Twitter on Monday, “India has unleashed its brute & oppressive state apparatus to browbeat Indian Muslims into submission.”
He claimed that India was planning to “further marginalize” Indian Muslims on political, economic, and cultural grounds, but the face of New Delhi’s so-called “democracy” was exposed to the world.
Before the prime minister, the Foreign Office strongly condemned the Indian authorities’ harsh treatment of peaceful protesting Muslims.
The indiscriminate and widespread use of force by Indian authorities in various Indian states resulted in the death of two innocent Muslim protesters and the injury of thirteen others in Ranchi city.
In a press release issued on Sunday, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson stated that the footage of Indian forces openly firing on unarmed protesters in Ranchi city was “horrible beyond belief.” So far, 227 people have been arrested in Uttar Pradesh alone.
Indian Muslim organisations urge their followers to avoid anti-Islam protests.
On Monday, leaders of prominent Islamic groups and mosques in India urged fellow Muslims to postpone planned protests against derogatory remarks about the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) made by two members of the ruling Hindu-nationalist coalition.
