Prince William recently sat down and got candid about the scathing effects of the Panorama interview as well as its effects on Princess Diana\u2019s life.<\/p>\n

The Duke of Cambridge demanded a call for the interview to be banned for its contribution towards \u201cmaking my parents\u2019 relationship worse.\u201d<\/p>\n

He admitted his mother\u2019s interview left him with bouts of \u201cindescribable sadness\u201d and even lashed out at reporters saying, \u201cShe was failed not just by a rogue reporter, but by leaders at the BBC who looked the other way rather than asking the tough questions.\u201d<\/p>\n

He told\u00a0Metro<\/i>, \u201cThe interview was a major contribution to making my parents\u2019 relationship worse and has since hurt countless others.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt brings indescribable sadness to know that the BBC\u2019s failures contributed significantly to her fear, paranoia and isolation that I remember from those final years with her.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut what saddens me most, is that if the BBC had properly investigated the complaints and concerns first raised in 1995, my mother would have known that she had been deceived.\u201d<\/p>\n

He concluded by saying, \u201cIn an era of fake news, public service broadcasting and a free press have never been more important. These failings, identified by investigative journalists, not only let my mother down, and my family down; they let the public down too.\u201d<\/p>\n
