Britney Spears’ dad has filed to end his daughter’s conservatorship. He has been in control of the singer’s $60 million estate for more than 13 years.<\/p>\n

Jamie Spears, 69, has filed the petition to Los Angeles Superior Court which states that his daughter “is entitled to have this Court now seriously consider whether this conservatorship is no longer required.”<\/p>\n

NBC<\/a>\u00a0reports that the filing continues to say that the singer’s circumstances have changed “to such an extent that grounds for establishment of a conservatorship may no longer exist”.<\/p>\n

Britney was placed under the conservatorship – a complex legal arrangement usually reserved for the very old or infirm – in 2008 after she had a series of mental breakdowns.<\/p>\n

She has not performed since 2018 and told the court in June that she refused to return to the stage while her father was conservator.<\/p>\n

The Toxic singer, 39, went on to\u00a0compare herself to a sex trafficking victim under the conservatorship\u00a0and admitted she cried every day.<\/p>\n

She also said that she was forced onto contraception and wasn’t allowed to marry.<\/p>\n

Britney recently appointed a new attorney to fight her battle. Mathew Rosengart filed a petition last month to remove dad Jamie and appealed for the court to replace him with a professional accountant.<\/p>\n

He argued that her dad wasn’t acting in the singer’s best interest and hinted that he may have misused some of her finances.<\/p>\n

The lawyer told the courts via documents that Jamie had been\u00a0trying to extort money from his daughter’s estate\u00a0before he stepped down.<\/p>\n

Judge Brenda Penny was expected to rule on this petition at a hearing set for September 29.<\/p>\n
