On the fifth day of the first Test at Kingsmead, South African spinners Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer sent Bangladesh plummeting to a 220-run defeat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bangladesh were knocked out for 53, their lowest total against South Africa, when Maharaj took seven for 32 and Harmer three for 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bangladesh lost their remaining seven wickets for 42 runs in less than an hour after resuming at 11 for three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mushfiqur Rahim, an experienced batsman, was bowled leg before wicket by Maharaj in the opening over of the day as he played down the wrong line of a hurried through straight ball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Maharaj’s next over, Liton Das fell to a soft shot, flicking a routine catch to Harmer at wide mid-on, and Maharaj dismissed Yasir Ali with a delivery that spun beyond the edge of Yasir’s defensive push to make it three wickets in three overs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rest of the batting collapsed, with only Najmul Hossain (26 off 52 balls) providing any significant resistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
