The British Council has reaffirmed its commitment to take more effective efforts to increase women’s contribution to nation building through women empowerment, as it celebrates the launch of its ‘Women in Leadership’ programme in South Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The British Council held a digital event across South Asia to mark the introduction of its ‘Women in Leadership’ programme, which provides leadership training to women in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A network of 100 young women leaders from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the United Kingdom was established as part of the training programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative provided an eight-week online, self-access leadership training to 100 emerging young women leaders (25 from each of the four states) to help them become more effective in leading interventions to enhance gender equality and women’s leadership within their industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was attended by representatives from the British Council, Clore Social Leadership UK, SoLF, Women in Leadership participants, and other specialists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was chaired by Sidra Iqbal, a well-known Pakistani broadcast journalist and media personality, and the keynote speaker was Jehan Ara, the founder and CEO of Katalyst Labs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A panel discussion was also held, during which stakeholders discussed the barriers to gender parity and women’s decision-making responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
