Syed Hassan Murtaza, the Central Punjab General Secretary of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and a member of Parliament, expressed his concern on Monday that the government could declare an emergency or impose governor rule in Punjab in order to sabotage the election for the new leader of the House, which is set to take place on April 6 in the Punjab Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makhdoom Usman Mahmood, Mumtaz Chang, Shazia Abid, and Raees Nabeel, all members of the Punjab Assembly, spoke during a press conference. Shahzad Saeed Cheema, Faiza Malik, Ahsan Rizvi, Afraz Naqvi, and Sajjad Nazir, Secretary of Information, were also present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elections, according to Murtaza, will be pointless until reforms are implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also stated that the PPP and opposition will not accept votes under Imran Khan, adding that the PPP and opposition believe Imran Khan to be the elected Prime Minister, and that writing him Prime Minister after the dissolution of the National Assembly is unconstitutional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Murtaza urged that Prime Minister Imran Khan<\/a> and all individuals participating in the \u201cplot\u201d against the country, including President Arif Alvi, the speaker and deputy speaker, be charged with high treason and tried under Article 6 of the Constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stated categorically that the PPP will not support any act that is unconstitutional. He cautioned that anyone found guilty of wrongdoing with the country or against the Constitution would be prosecuted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
