Twitter said on Tuesday that it has asked governments and state-affiliated media to delete any content that depicts prisoners of war.
“Under our private information and media policy, we will now ask government or state linked media accounts to delete any material released that portrays prisoners of war (PoW),” Twitter wrote in a blog post.
Twitter has announced that media showing prisoners of war produced by government or state-affiliated media accounts will receive a warning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If there is prisoner of war content shared with abusive purpose, such as insults, demands for retribution, taking pleasure in suffering, or any other conduct that violates Twitter guidelines, Twitter will delete any tweets, regardless of who sent them, the firm stated.
Last month, video emerged on social media purporting to show Russian prisoners of war being shot in the legs and tortured in other ways.
