{"id":14016,"date":"2022-04-06T13:37:55","date_gmt":"2022-04-06T13:37:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyrapidnews.com\/eng\/?p=14016"},"modified":"2022-04-06T13:41:05","modified_gmt":"2022-04-06T13:41:05","slug":"supreme-court-postponed-hearing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyrapidnews.com\/eng\/2022\/04\/06\/supreme-court-postponed-hearing\/","title":{"rendered":"The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing of a suo motu case concerning the dismissal of a no-confidence petition until Thursday"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday postponed till Thursday the hearing of a suo motu issue concerning the rejection of a no-confidence vote in the National Assembly (tomorrow).<br>The case is being heard by a five-member bigger Supreme Court panel led by Pakistan&#8217;s Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Babar Awan, a lawyer for the PTI, has presented his case.<br>Meanwhile, journalists covering the Supreme Court of Pakistan&#8217;s hearings on the Deputy Speaker&#8217;s contentious no-confidence motion judgement skipped former information minister Fawad Chaudhry&#8217;s news conference over his brusque reaction to a question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response to a query from veteran journalist Matiullah Jan, an irate Chaudhry labelled him a &#8220;hired gun&#8221; in an aggressive way, prompting outrage among the on-field reporters.<br>Despite persistent demand from the journalists to either answer the question or apologise to Jan over his uncalled for statements, Chaudhry responded to personal assaults on the credibility of other journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that the journalists covering the press conferences are paid and have a predetermined agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Asad Umar and Ali Muhammad Khan of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf tried to defuse the situation, but Chaudhry stood firm in his controversial remarks. The journalists removed their microphones and cameras in response to Chaudhry&#8217;s behaviour, stating that he will not be covered until he apologises.<br>Senior court reporters from several news and digital outlets have convened a high-level meeting to consider the next course of action in response to the former information minister&#8217;s comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chaudhry has previously made headlines for assaulting journalists and using obscene language. Despite their claims to support press freedom, the PTI and Prime Minister Imran Khan never took any action or disciplined him for his activities, much to the astonishment of
