Afghan cricketer Rashid Khan told Reuters on Friday that he wishes for more opportunities to play Test matches against elite nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since Afghanistan was granted Full Membership of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2017, Rashid has played in five of the country’s six Test matches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The squad was set to play a one-off Test in Hobart in November, but Cricket Australia postponed the match due to concerns over the future of women’s cricket in Afghanistan under Taliban control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rashid expressed sadness for losing out on the chance to put his abilities to the test against players like Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“It disappoints you as a player because you always hope to play big teams,” the Afghani player, who is currently playing for Gujarat Titans in the IPL, said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“It’s all about getting better at cricket and developing new skills.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We were all looking forward to going, but things don’t always happen as planned.” I’m hoping we’ll be able to play them shortly.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rashid Khan, who is well-known in Twenty20 leagues throughout the world, understands the value of test cricket in a player’s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“To improve your bowling, you should bowl extended spells. I sincerely hope that we will be able to play more Test matches in the coming years.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rashid has also represented several countries’ cricket teams, including England, India, Australia, Pakistan, and the West Indies, thanks to his ferocious leg spin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
