Caball\u00e9 was born in Barcelona on April 12, 1933, as Mara de Montserrat Bibiana Concepci\u00f3n Caball\u00e9 I Folch. She has loved music since she was a child, and she has attended music school and taken singing lessons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Montserrat Caball\u00e9 made her professional opera debut in 1956, shortly after relocating to Switzerland, as a substitute member in a staging of Puccini’s La boh\u00e8me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the next decade, she steadily rose in prominence across Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
