Mario Escobar, her father, has now verified to El Pais that his daughter was found dead on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“My daughter has died,” he stated. And I’m at a loss for words.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials have yet to determine if the discovered body is Debanhi’s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The State Prosecutor’s Office claimed in a statement that “investigative agents assigned to the case discovered a dead corpse within an abandoned water cistern.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I want an explanation for Debanhi’s disappearance,” Mario remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Escobar, 18, went missing after a night out in Nuevo Le\u00f3n, Mexico, with two friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On April 8, she had spent the evening drinking in Escobedo until she got into an argument with one of her pals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Debhani was driven home by an off-duty taxi driver known to the group and only identified as 47-year-old Jess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, it is reported that the child and the driver had a “heated quarrel” throughout the journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When his ridesharing app was unexpectedly shut off during the trip, Jess, the cab driver, abandoned Debhani by the side of the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He left her on the side of the highway going to Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas’ border town, sometimes known as the “death path.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The gloomy title was given to the bleak 219-kilometer region by the astounding number of people who went missing there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jess, a cab driver, then took the final photograph of Debhani, who was last seen alive, and texted it to her friends about 1 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Tuesday, the cabbie was detained and questioned by officials in connection with Debahni’s kidnapping. He has previously been investigated for harassing women and attempting to kidnap them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the final shot he snapped of her, clothed in a crop top and long skirt, the 18-year-old can be seen firmly looking away and glancing down the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She was later seen on security video shortly after entering Alcosa Transportes Internacionales, a trucking company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Debhani, on the other hand, was nowhere to be seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bodies were later discovered placed along the spooky road, which is dreaded by locals and where 77 people went missing only last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Several survivors have given terrifying descriptions of being assaulted by armed attackers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Every day, seven women are reported missing in Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
