According to an official, an Indian climber perished during a summit effort on Mount Kanchenjunga, the world’s third tallest mountain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The death is the third in the current climbing season, which began in March, in the Nepal Himalayas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Narayanan Iyer, 52, died on Thursday at an altitude of roughly 8,200 meters (26,900 feet) while attempting to summit the 8,586 meter (28,169 feet) peak, according to Nivesh Karki, a representative of the hiking business <\/a>Pioneer Adventure, which organized the expedition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Iyer’s guide asked him to return when he became ill, but he refused,” Karki claimed, confirming Iyer’s death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“He was a little slower than the rest, so we had two escorts to help him.” He was completely spent, unable to continue, and collapsed.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the mountain, there were numerous other teams, including a Pakistani group whose member, Sirbaz Khan, became the first Pakistani to climb ten peaks over 8,000 meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Greek climber and a Nepali Sherpa guide died on other peaks this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mountain climbing is the primary source of revenue and employment in Nepal, which has eight of the world’s fourteen tallest peaks, including Mount Everest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the current season, which ends in May, more than 900 international mountaineers have been granted permission to climb 26 Himalayan peaks in Nepal, including Mount Everest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
