PTI Chairman Imran Khan contested the Supreme Court’s decision against former deputy speaker Qasim Suri’s no-confidence motion judgment on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former prime minister has appealed the Supreme Court’s verdict in the suo motu notice case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 3, the former deputy speaker of the National Assembly rejected a vote of no confidence in Prime Minister Imran Khan, claiming it was part of an international plot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan<\/a> said in his plea that the Supreme Court had ruled on April 7 that the no-confidence vote be held on April 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The court’s April 7 decision has various gaps that need to be examined,” he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the National Assembly’s sessions, the deputy speaker, according to the PTI chairman, enforced Article 5 of the Constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After meeting 12 Supreme Court judges, Pakistan’s Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial took suo motu notice of the verdict against the deputy speaker of the National Assembly on May 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After declaring the government’s decision to dissolve the National Assembly and NA Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri’s ruling against the Constitution, the Supreme Court restored the National Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The highest court had ordered the then-National Assembly speaker, Asad Qasier, to convene the session no later than 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The assembly was in existence at all times<\/a>, and continues to remain and be so,” the Supreme Court said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The speaker cannot prorogue the parliament and end the session if the no-confidence motion fails or after a new prime minister is elected if a no-confidence motion is passed, according to the apex court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No member will be denied the right to vote, according to the court. It further indicated that if the no-confidence motion fails, the government will continue to function.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
