Last week, Elly Belfort of Summer Hill, Sydney, returned home to find her street clogged with automobiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, she had little choice but to hunt for another option, and she managed to squeeze her Mini into a tight place behind another vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elly, though, was shocked to discover a $275 (\u00a3150) fine on her windscreen the next morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The resident was accused of parking a fraction of a mile across the driveway, but a photograph indicates the drive was not blocked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I assumed [the neighbors] probably phoned the council since I find it strange,” she told.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I’ve parked my car in similar spots numerous times before and never had an issue.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elly mentioned that she has a chronic knee problem that makes walking long distances difficult, and she was keen to find a location close to home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also had a recent altercation with her neighbors, who complained about her parking near their driveway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I parked there a few weeks ago,” Elly explained. ‘How can you expect me to drive away while you’re blocking my driveway?’ I heard [neighbors] cursing at me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“They lacked decency. They stated that they would contact the city council.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elly then posted a photo on Facebook<\/a>, stating she was “confused” by the fine, and many others agreed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One person said: “Oh, that’s disgusting. That is something I would dispute.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s close, but I don’t see you blocking the driveway in any manner. There is lots of parking and driving space “another said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, one observer observed that the “vehicle is plainly overhanging the wing of the driveway,” implying that she had parked in front of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another remarked, “My usual rule is to avoid passing where the curb begins to dip for the driveway.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
