After suffering a stress fracture in his lower back, England fast bowler Jofra Archer will miss the full season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s another setback for the 27-year-old, who hasn’t played since July due to two elbow surgeries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Archer was on the mend and expected to return to domestic cricket this month, only to experience back pain last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He’ll also miss the T20 World Cup in Australia this fall, with no timetable for his return set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s the latest injury to an England speed bowler, who have been ruled out of the summer’s first Test against New Zealand, including Archer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Four of the remaining six players have back injuries: Sam Curran, Olly Stone, Matt Fisher, and Saqib Mahmood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This new setback will worry Archer, who was once England’s most intriguing pace prospect but is now set to miss more than a year of action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was called up just before the 2019 World Cup and bowled the \u2018super over’ that helped England beat New Zealand in the final at Lord’s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later that summer, he made his Test debut against Australia on the same pitch, bowling a violent stint that left Steve Smith with a concussion after being struck on the helmet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Archer has 86 international wickets after appearing in 13 Tests, 17 one-dayers, and 12 T20s for England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
