They were both punished this month for violating Covid laws at Mr Johnson’s birthday celebration in Downing Street in June 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Metropolitan Police says the investigation into lockdown breaches in and around Downing Street has concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It led in the issuance of 126 Fixed Penalty Notices for occurrences occurring on eight different dates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The conclusion of the police investigation allows for the release of the full report by top officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anger among Conservative MPs has long since subsided, and it will now subside even further – for the time being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, we are still awaiting the report from senior civil servant Sue Gray, which might further embarrass Boris Johnson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Remember that Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer is still facing questioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is awaiting the results of a Durham Police investigation. He and his lawyers are as certain as they can be that he will be exonerated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
