According to the Foreign Office, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari <\/a>will fly to China on a two-day official visit tomorrow at the request of State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bilawal’s travel, scheduled for May 21-22, will be his first bilateral trip abroad since taking office last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a Foreign Office statement, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar and senior officials will join the foreign minister’s trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his visit, Bilawal will meet with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in-depth. “The two leaders will evaluate the entire scope of bilateral relations, with a particular emphasis on increased trade and investment.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The revolutionary China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the centerpiece project of President Xi Jinping’s grandiose Belt and Road Initiative will also be discussed. The two sides will also engage in a wide-ranging discussion of significant regional and international issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Foreign Minister Bilawal’s visit will also coincide with the 71st anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations,” the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

State Councilor Wang Yi had written Bilawal a letter of congratulations on his appointment as FM. The two foreign ministers previously met virtually on May 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The foreign minister’s visit is part of the high-level exchanges between the two countries, which recently included a letter of congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
