A police officer told an inquest into the death of Sheku Bayoh that while administering CPR on him on a Fife street, he accidentally cracked Mr Bayoh’s rib.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Bayoh, 31, died after authorities in Kirkcaldy restrained him in May 2015 after receiving reports of a man armed with a knife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PC Craig Walker was resuming the testimony he began on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He claimed that throughout his training, he was warned that CPR might cause a rib to rupture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also verified the use of CS spray on Mr Bayoh while he was held.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PC Walker has been detailing how he and his colleagues tackled Mr Bayoh and restrained him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Bayoh was chasing PC Nicola Short, who had fallen to the ground, he added. Mr Bayoh was then seen stamping on her back, he claimed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the officer, he tried to subdue Mr Bayoh by shoulder charging him to the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also stated that punches were thrown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PC Walker stated that this was a reasonable use of force to get Mr Bayoh to put his hands to his face so he could be handcuffed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He admitted that he did eventually have Mr Bayoh’s hands cuffed, but he denied lying on top of him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
