An uncontrollable On Sunday morning, a German Shepherd assaulted an elderly, and authorities are still looking for its owner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When the dog bit the 77-year-old man on the arm in Intake, near Doncaster, it was on the loose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The dog was later apprehended in the street by officials from South Yorkshire Police, however the owner of the animal is still unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident occurred at 8 a.m., and authorities have yet to discover individuals responsible for the dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anyone with information is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 and reference incident 752 of May 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is illegal for a dog to be out of control or to bite or attack someone in a public area, a private place such as a neighbor’s garden, or even the owner’s home, under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, proposed by then-Home Secretary Kenneth Baker and revised in 1997. It is also an offence under the law if a person is anxious or terrified (the term is “reasonable apprehension”) that a dog would bite them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prior to the Act, there were no criminal sanctions for dog attacks that resulted in injuries or deaths. This law now covers all dogs, not just dangerous ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
