A Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf<\/a> delegation appeared before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday, and the court granted the release of 70 PTI members who had been imprisoned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A plea against police harassment of PTI members was heard by the high court today, and the judge questioned why they were being harassed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Islamabad’s deputy commissioner said the political party had requested authorization for the protracted march. According to him, the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) had received a warning that a foreign agency would attack the political party in issue, and they were refused authorization to conduct the investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At least 70 people have been arrested in Islamabad so far on suspicion, he claimed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Justice Athar Minallah of the IHC responded to this by saying that the police might seize a bail from someone suspected of breaking the Metro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No one may be harassed based only on suspicion as long as no one has acted on it. “You should free them by taking a bond from them,” he instructed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

70 PTI prisoners were released on a surety bond by the International Criminal Court (IHC) and asked to notify the court tomorrow if anybody had a case against them (May 26).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Islamabad and Lahore high courts on Tuesday limited the government’s ability to harass and detain PTI activists and leaders “unnecessarily.” [Citation needed]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few hours before, police had begun a crackdown on the PTI and searched the homes of party officials, purportedly forcing them to flee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
