Musk<\/a> said on Twitter that those who do not want to follow the new rules can “pretend to work somewhere else.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n“Everyone at Tesla is required to spend at least 40 hours per week in the office,” he wrote in one of the emails. “If you fail to appear, we will assume you have resigned.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The emails stated that employees should report to one of the company’s main offices, rather than “a remote branch office unrelated to the job duties.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Musk also stated that he would personally review any requests for policy exemptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Musk stated that the company expects its factory employees to work full-time in the office and that in-person collaboration is critical to the company’s success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
