In April of this year, Ofcom raised the price cap by 54%, amounting to an additional \u00a3693 per year for households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And bills are expected to rise by \u00a3600 this October when the energy price cap is revised, potentially reaching \u00a32,800.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are also plans to adjust the cap every three months rather than six, which means that prices may change more frequently in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here’s how to get your money back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Increase the load.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Instead of doing smaller washes on a regular basis, wait until you have a load large enough to fill the drum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This could save you at least one load of laundry per week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You could save \u00a314.56 if you make one cut per week for the entire year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A six-litre washing machine is estimated to use around 1kWh of energy for an hour-long cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to source, 1kWh of electricity currently costs 28p.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So, for a year, washing your clothes once a week would cost \u00a314.56.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you wash your clothes twice a week for a year, the cost is \u00a329.12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Select a lower temperature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
