HAYFEVER sufferers are in for a miserable weekend as pollen levels rise across the country this Jubilee weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Millions of Britons suffer from the condition, and with the holiday season in full swing, it’s likely that many will be enjoying the great outdoors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many people will be exposed to pollen circulating at a garden party or a barbecue to celebrate the monarch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today will see high levels of pollen in the South West, London, the South East, the East of England, the East Midlands, the West Midlands, Wales, and the North West.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This will be the case for the rest of the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sun is shining in the majority of English regions today, and it is expected to continue tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, as the weather turns wet on Saturday and Sunday, a pollen storm could occur, leaving many people with itchy eyes and runny noses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Temperatures are expected to reach 22 degrees Celsius today as a plume of tropical air sweeps in from the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The weather will be warmest in the South East of England, with highs of 22 degrees Celsius expected in London, which also has the highest pollen count.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Elsewhere, temperatures will range from the high teens to the mid-20s, but there will be plenty of sunshine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One in every four adults suffers from hay fever, and the majority are allergic to grass pollen, which blooms from mid-May to July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Manpreet Bains, GP at Thriva, described the condition as allergic rhinitis or seasonal rhinitis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When the eyes, nose, mouth, and throat come into contact with tiny pollen particles, an immune response is triggered, causing the body to react.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Itchy, watery, and red eyes are possible symptoms of this reaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“A blocked or runny nose is one of the nasal symptoms. \u201cThroat symptoms can include itching and soreness,” explains Dr. Manpreet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
