If you are the type to waffle, Many of us go to bed exhausted after a long day expecting to sleep well, only to wake up in the middle of the night unable to sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trying to overcome insomnia by scrolling through your phone or simply tossing and turning in the hopes of falling asleep only results in remaining awake for hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Michael Mosley, best known for his dieting advice and who is now researching the science of sleep, has a great tip for what to do if you wake up in the middle of the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Michael Mosley has an unusual tip that may help you get a full night&#8217;s rest if you wake up in the middle of the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the Newscast podcast, Michael Mosley recently spoke with Dan Walker and political reporter Adam Fleming about Walker&#8217;s chaotic sleep routine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Dr. Mosley, the best thing to do if you&#8217;re tossing and turning in bed and can&#8217;t sleep is to get out of bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He elaborated: &#8220;The general advice is the 15-minute rule. If you are still awake after 15 minutes, get out of bed and do something boring until you feel sleepy, then return to bed.&#8221; The rule is to associate bed with only sleep and sex. There will be no Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In response to Walker&#8217;s claim that he was high functioning despite sleeping &#8220;no more than 24 hours over the course of the week,&#8221; Mosley said, &#8220;I would say you&#8217;re massively deluded.&#8221; People believe they are fine, but they are not.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Michael Mosley has three more sleep tips to help us get a good night&#8217;s sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Purchase an eye mask.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Mosley recommends wearing an eye mask to protect your eyes. This is especially useful in the summer, when people sleep 25 minutes less on average due to bright mornings. &#8220;I&#8217;d recommend getting a pair of eye shades, not very sexy in bed,&#8221; he said.
