Busia was once a homeless dog without a family to call her own, but now she has an army of fans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
FOUR PAWS, a global animal welfare organization, discovered the former stray dog on the streets of Lviv, Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rescue team trained her to be a therapy dog as part of their Animal Assisted Intervention (AAI) project, and she passed all of her tests with flying colours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Busia now offers injured soldiers emotional support as well as PTSD prevention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“She can bring a person out of such a state by licking their hands or touching them with her paw, which invites them to interact,” said practical psychologist Viktoriia Habryk. Patients begin to pet and hug her, gradually calming down. Busia does not pass judgment or evaluate; instead, she provides unconditional love and comfort.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Busia has been specially trained to respond to human reactions and “clearly identifies people who are tense, stressed, or traumatized.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Four Paws launched the AAI project in 2018, with the goal of selecting, training, and certifying former stray dogs to become therapy dogs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
