One-fifth believe their gut will influence their dreams if it is trying to tell them something; however, nearly half are unaware of the importance of diet for gut health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Forget about heart over head \u2013 According to research, British people make decisions based on their gut instincts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A survey of 2,000 adults found that 70% always trust their instincts, with more than a third (35%) having a physical “gut feeling” about situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When it comes to their health, nearly one-fifth (17%) rely on their intuition to tell them if something is wrong, while 20% rely on their intuition to guide them when it comes to trusting a partner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Furthermore, 40% are unaware of the role diet plays in gut health \u2013 and, despite the fact that fiber promotes good gut health, only 7% are aware of how much they should consume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“While there’s a lot we don’t know about the gut, we do know there’s trillions of bacteria living in it \u2013 our gut microbiota,” said Dr Joshua Wolrich, an NHS doctor and registered associate nutritionist who is working with California Almonds, which commissioned the research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Changes in the microbiota have been linked to a variety of health issues, including heart disease, liver disease, and diabetes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Because food is its primary fuel, a well-balanced diet is essential, and fiber is essential for supporting healthy gut activity.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
