Loren Schauers, 20, who had the lower half of his body amputated after an accident, says his devoted dog never leaves his side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A man who was severely injured in a forklift accident has spoken about how his devoted dog never leaves his side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loren Schauers, 20, was working in a forklift on a bridge in September 2019 when he fell 50 feet, severing his arm and crushing his lower body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His family was faced with the heartbreaking decision of asking doctors to save him by chopping him in half and risking Loren wishing they hadn’t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the construction worker was eventually able to speak for himself, he looked doctors “dead in the eye” and requested the life-saving surgery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loren, from Great Falls, Montana, has been living without his legs and right forearm for the past two years, thanks to the support of his devoted wife Sabia Reiche, 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loren revealed how much his four-legged friend Atlas does for him at home in a touching tribute to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loren told his followers during a live stream on the couple’s popular YouTube channel that Atlas was “crying because he sees that I’m in pain.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Yeah it’s actually really cute, we should do a video of it, but yeah Atlas whenever I’m around.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As soon as Loren gets out of bed, Atlas is like in protective mode and is at his side, like ‘this is my human,'” said Sabia, 23, whose surname Loren has decided to adopt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The German shepherd in the video is wearing a bright bandana around his collar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Atlas’ neck rolls are about three fingers wide, according to the couple, before smothering him with affectionate strokes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
