{"id":18745,"date":"2022-06-14T23:10:20","date_gmt":"2022-06-14T18:10:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyrapidnews.com\/eng\/?p=18745"},"modified":"2022-06-14T23:10:30","modified_gmt":"2022-06-14T18:10:30","slug":"seizures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyrapidnews.com\/eng\/2022\/06\/14\/seizures\/","title":{"rendered":"The mother says her daughter has been &#8220;robbed of her childhood&#8221; due to constant seizures."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Olivia McCafferty has cut and bruised herself as a result of her daily convulsions and is now receiving cannabis oil treatment because her medication makes her feel &#8220;like a zombie.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An eight-year-old girl who has 300 seizures per day has been &#8220;robbed of her childhood,&#8221; according to her mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Olivia McCafferty has Doose Syndrome, a severe form of childhood epilepsy that has forced her to use a wheelchair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to report, the youngster from Glasgow, Scotland, has suffered cuts and bruises as a result of her convulsions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her usual medication can make her feel &#8220;zombie-like,&#8221; so she is now receiving cannabis oil treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Her seizures have gone absolutely haywire in the last 18 months,&#8221; said Julie Cabrey, 45. We counted her 300th seizure one day last year. &#8220;We&#8217;ve just stopped counting now.&#8221; She can&#8217;t go out to play with her friends because she requires my constant presence. &#8221; She&#8217;s on a strict keto diet, so no McDonald&#8217;s or sweets for her. She is unable to attend her friends&#8217; birthday parties. She is missing out on a lot.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Olivia was only 15 months old when she was admitted to the hospital with convulsions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It took several months for her to be diagnosed with Doose syndrome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The child underwent brain surgery in 2021 to try to stop the seizures, but the procedure was unsuccessful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She is now required to wear a safety helmet at all times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Julie, a support learning worker for Glasgow City Council, said she is now looking into funding medicinal cannabis oil treatment for her daughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Olivia is currently receiving treatment at Scotland&#8217;s first approved medicinal cannabis clinic, the Sapphire Medical Clinic in Stirling, but the family is facing mounting costs of up to \u00a31,200 per month to increase her dose.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Olivia McCafferty has cut and bruised herself as a result of her daily convulsions and<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"spay_email":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[591],"tags":[1467],"class_list":["post-18745","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","tag-seizures"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v18.4.1 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>&quot;Robbed of her childhood&quot;
