Elon Musk, the multi-billionaire, hinted at potential job cuts in a meeting with Twitter employees if his $44 billion (\u00a335.8 billion) takeover bid for the social media company is successful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also discussed remote working, free speech, and the possibility of extraterrestrial life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Musk was speaking with employees for the first time since launching his bid for the company in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He has stated that if he does not receive information about fake accounts, he may terminate the agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Musk said on a wide-ranging video call with Twitter employees on Thursday that layoffs at the company would be determined by the company’s financial situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The company does need to improve its health. Right now, costs exceed revenues “he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Anyone who’s… a significant contributor should have nothing to worry about,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also stated that unless “someone is exceptional,” he prefers to work from home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He did not, however, provide an update on takeover discussions, and Twitter employees took to an internal communication channel to express their dissatisfaction with his views on the business and employee compensation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
