Photos from weapons trackers were published on Thursday, claiming to show the damage caused by the strike in the southern Ukrainian city of Nova Kakhovka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another image shows the shattered remains of a missile, with an overturned truck in the background. The attack is said to have targeted three Russian supply trucks as well as an auxiliary armored vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Serhiy Khlan, an adviser to the head of the Kherson Oblast State Administration, confirmed the attack on Ukraine 24, a national television channel, saying: “Today, at noon, our Armed Forces struck the ammunition depot and military equipment repair centre in Nova Kakhovka, one of the industrial districts, with precision and purpose. It got there very clearly. It exploded between noon and late at night.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The blast also destroyed trees and a supply truck that was emblazoned with the now-famous ‘Z’ symbol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kherson, a coastal region where mainland Ukraine meets Crimea, is currently occupied and controlled by Russian forces, who entered the country through Crimea during the initial invasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated repeatedly that he would only accept the restoration of Ukraine’s full sovereignty, and has hinted at a desire to return to the country’s pre-2014 borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Russia’s military failures in the invasion have most likely cost the far superior army the opportunity to complete the invasion, and have indicated a move toward annexing the Donbas region to the east.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
