On March 8, 2014, all 239 passengers and crew on board the Malaysia Airlines flight vanished along with the plane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Daily Star, British aerospace engineer Richard Godfrey claims he has narrowed the search area for the aircraft to just 115 square miles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The plane is believed to have crashed while flying from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Beijing, China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Godfrey believes he has now located the wrecked plane at 33.177\u00b0S 95.300\u00b0E.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ocean Infinity, a marine robotics company, announced on the 8th anniversary of the disappearance that they will launch a new search in early 2023 in collaboration with Mr Godfrey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ocean Infinity will scour an area 88 nautical miles wide by 183 nautical miles long using newly built “cutting-edge” autonomous robotic vessels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The same company searched the area in 2018 but came up empty-handed, but it is hoped that the new technology will lead to the discovery of the Boeing 777.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Godfrey believes the wreckage was hidden beneath sediment that covered the craft after it was moved underwater by volcanic activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
