Apple just announced iOS 16 at its WWDC 2022 event, and we expect it to launch alongside the iPhone 14 in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, some iPhone models that could run iOS 15 will be unable to upgrade to iOS 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, they’ll begin missing security updates later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because Apple can’t support all iPhones indefinitely, older iPhone models frequently lose access to updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes these older iPhones lack the processing power to support new features, or there aren’t enough people who use them to warrant an update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple is now discontinuing the iPhone 6S, iPhone 7, and first-generation iPhone SE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These phones were compatible with the current version of iOS 15.5, but they will not be updated to iOS 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
