The United States has suddenly canceled the visas of more than 400 international students, including Pakistanis, prompting several American universities to demand an explanation from the government.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to U.S. media reports, the new policy includes strict scrutiny of the social media profiles of individuals traveling to the U.S. on student visas. The New York Times<\/em> reported that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a directive on March 25 instructing diplomats to thoroughly review the social media activity of visa applicants\u2014particularly those who have criticized the U.S. or Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
