{"id":22428,"date":"2026-09-29T16:44:26","date_gmt":"2026-09-29T11:44:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyrapidnews.com\/eng\/?p=22428"},"modified":"2026-09-29T16:44:30","modified_gmt":"2026-09-29T11:44:30","slug":"uk-firefighter-uses-chatgpt-to-win-40000-court-case-against-ex-girlfriend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyrapidnews.com\/eng\/2026\/09\/29\/uk-firefighter-uses-chatgpt-to-win-40000-court-case-against-ex-girlfriend\/","title":{"rendered":"UK firefighter uses ChatGPT to win \u00a340,000 court case against ex-girlfriend"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A UK firefighter has won a court case to recover \u00a340,000 he gave his former girlfriend to invest, after using ChatGPT for legal guidance and representing himself in court.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Craig Titchener, 40, won a \u00a3200,000 jackpot on a Winter Wonderlines lottery scratchcard in November 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2022, he gave \u00a340,000 to his then-girlfriend, Heather Douglas, 37, a psychiatric nurse, so that she could use her financial knowledge to invest the money on his behalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The court heard that the pair agreed to put the money into Premium Bonds and share any returns from the investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After their relationship ended, however, Douglas refused to return the money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Titchener, a father of two and Heathrow firefighter, contacted legal experts but said solicitors had asked for fees that he could not afford.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He then turned to ChatGPT for help. The chatbot provided step-by-step guidance on completing the necessary forms so that he could present his own case at Central London County Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Titchener told the court that representing himself was a risk, but he had little to lose. He said he might not have won the case without ChatGPT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Douglas, meanwhile, told the court that the \u00a340,000 had been given to her as a gift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She failed to prove that the money was a gift and did not provide her bank statements to the court.
