Faced with hearing legal debate from the kitten\u2019s cute but worried face, Judge Roy Ferguson of Texas\u2019s 394th judicial district told Ponton: \u201cI believe you have a filter turned on in the video settings. You might want to \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
The Ponton\/kitten entity then interrupts Ferguson in a panicked drawl: \u201cCan you hear me, judge?\u201d<\/p>\n
Ferguson responds: \u201cI can hear you. I think it\u2019s a filter \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is,\u201d the cat-faced Ponton responds. \u201cAnd I don\u2019t know how to remove it. I\u2019ve got my assistant here, she\u2019s trying to, but I\u2019m prepared to go forward with it \u2026 I\u2019m here live. I\u2019m not a cat.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ferguson deadpans: \u201cI can see that.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the manner of good judges everywhere, Ferguson sought to use the example of human\/feline fallibility as a teachable moment. He\u00a0tweeted: \u201cIf a child used your computer, before you join a virtual hearing check the \u2018Zoom video options\u2019 to be sure filters are off.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cThese fun moments are a byproduct of the legal profession\u2019s dedication to ensuring that the justice system continues to function in these tough times.
