<\/p>\nMany of us have been eating chocolate for as long as we can remember, but have never actually seen what a cocoa pod looks like.<\/p>\n
This has now changed, thanks to a\u00a0TikTok\u00a0user named\u00a0Sophia Rose\u00a0– but honestly, we were pretty happy being blissfully unaware.<\/p>\n
In a video on the social media platform, which has been viewed more than three\u00a0million times,\u00a0Sophia takes a cocoa pod, removes the nibs and roasts them.<\/p>\n
The whole process has left people feeling “uncomfy”, “terrified” and some even vowed to never eat\u00a0chocolate\u00a0again after watching.<\/p>\n

In the clip, Sophia says: “This is a beautiful\u00a0cocoa\u00a0pod and we’re going to make roasted cocoa nibs.<\/p>\n
“Inside are the seeds which have a deliciously sweet white coating.<\/p>\n
“First step let the seeds ferment for five to eight days, this is gonna help give them that rich chocolate flavour.<\/p>\n
“Next, we roast them and the shells will now easily come off.”<\/p>\n
After this, she crumbles the nibs, which is her “favourite part”.<\/p>\n
But those watching simply couldn’t get over what the pod looked like as it was opened up.<\/p>\n
Several people compared it to a bug, with one writing: “I THOUGHT THAT WAS A GIANT LARVAE OMG.”<\/p>\n
Another commented: “Why did I think it was some dodgy sea creature?”<\/p>\n
A third replied: “Am I the only one who thought this was an alien egg?”<\/p>\n
“It looked like a bug,” posted someone else.<\/p>\n

A sixth proclaimed: “I WATCHED THIS IN SHEER TERROR.”<\/p>\n
“Cool, I’m never eating chocolate again thanks.” admitted a fellow TikTok user.<\/p>\n
“I don’t like knowing this,” said an eighth.<\/p>\n
