{"id":6708,"date":"2021-03-16T11:38:56","date_gmt":"2021-03-16T11:38:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyrapidnews.com\/eng\/?p=6708"},"modified":"2021-03-16T11:38:56","modified_gmt":"2021-03-16T11:38:56","slug":"pakistans-biggest-industries-have-been-evading-tax-pm-khan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyrapidnews.com\/eng\/2021\/03\/16\/pakistans-biggest-industries-have-been-evading-tax-pm-khan\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan\u2019s biggest industries have been evading tax: PM Khan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Some of the biggest industries in Pakistan have been evading taxes for decades,&#8221; Prime Minister Imran Khan said.<\/p>\n<p>Heading a Federal Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, he said that industries such as sugar, fertilisers, and cigarettes have been conveniently evading taxes. &#8220;For the last five years, the Federal Board of Revenue has been trying to bring a track and trace system.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6710\" src=\"https:\/\/dailyrapidnews.com\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Imran-Khan-federal-cabinet-Pakistan-biggest-industries-have-been-evading-tax-PM-Khan-rapidnews.jpg\" alt=\"Imran-Khan-federal-cabinet-Pakistan-biggest-industries-have-been-evading-tax-PM-Khan-rapidnews\" width=\"750\" height=\"369\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dailyrapidnews.com\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Imran-Khan-federal-cabinet-Pakistan-biggest-industries-have-been-evading-tax-PM-Khan-rapidnews.jpg 750w, https:\/\/dailyrapidnews.com\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Imran-Khan-federal-cabinet-Pakistan-biggest-industries-have-been-evading-tax-PM-Khan-rapidnews-300x148.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Through this system, the board will be able to trace tax evasions. &#8220;But every time, this project is somehow sabotaged,&#8221; the premier said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This year, the FBR assured to bring in place the system but the Sindh High Court gave a stay order on it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The PM reiterated that it&#8217;s pertinent to understand the importance of the system. &#8220;When these industries don&#8217;t pay taxes, we have to charge that amount through indirect taxes which the public has to pay,&#8221; he explained.<\/p>\n<p>In the cigarette industry, 40% of companies evade taxes while the sugar industry has evaded approximately Rs4 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The premier instructed Law Minister Farogh Naseem to look over the matter with the court.<\/p>\n<p>Another matter he discussed was electronic voting. The PM instructed the cabinet to give him regular updates on electronic machines for elections and the voting of overseas
