Police raiding a house in Birmingham uncovered 80 alligator heads which the force believes were ‘illegally imported’ to be sold on eBay.<\/p>\n
The sale of such items – which is banned on the popular auction site – would make a large profit for the seller.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
A 44-year-old man has been voluntarily interviewed following the raid,\u00a0BirminghamLive reports.<\/p>\n
Police seized the heads on Thursday, February 25, from an unknown address in the city’s Perry Barr area.<\/p>\n
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We\u2019ve seized 80 alligator heads from a house in Perry Barr this morning.<\/p>\n
“Not your normal find for us when conducting a warrant but it\u2019s all in a day\u2019s work for the National Wildlife Crime Unit and our wildlife crime officer volunteers.”<\/p>\n

eBay says that it hasn’t been able to look into whether or not the heads had been listed on its site.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson at the auction site said: “We have blocks in place to prevent listings which are in breach of our animal and wildlife policy.<\/p>\n
“We are currently investigating this case and suitable action will be taken against the seller in question.<\/p>\n
“We always cooperate with the relevant authorities and will be assisting the West Midlands Police as necessary.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
