On Wednesday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif emphasised Pakistan’s long-standing relationship with the United States and expressed a desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation based on mutual respect, trust, and equality.

He emphasised that positive cooperation between the two countries might assist foster regional peace, security, and prosperity.

The prime minister was speaking with Ilhan Omar of the United States House of Representatives, who had summoned him.

During the meeting, shared interests such as Pakistan-US bilateral ties and the regional situation were discussed.

Maintaining that the United States remained Pakistan’s largest commercial partner, the prime minister emphasised the need of strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in trade and investment.

He praised the Pakistani Diaspora’s efforts to strengthen Pakistan-US ties, adding that Pakistan greatly appreciated their contribution to national development and advancement.

The prime minister emphasised the dire human rights situation in IIOJK and the significance of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir conflict peacefully so that the area may fulfil its economic potential and promote social growth.

He stressed the need of a peaceful and stable South Asian area in order to focus on growth and development.

The prime minister highlighted the need of worldwide collaboration in combating the plague of Islamophobia.

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and expressed optimism that her visit to Pakistan will help build connections between Pakistan and the US Congress.

The prime minister enthusiastically greeted her on her maiden visit to Pakistan, praising her principles and political battle.

He believed that it would lead to stronger people-to-people connections and interactions between Pakistan’s parliament and the US Congress.

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar will visit Pakistan from April 20 to 24, 2022. She will visit Lahore and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, in addition to meeting with leaders in Islamabad, to have a better grasp of Pakistan’s cultural, social, political, and economic possibilities.

President Dr. Arif Alvi expressed confidence that Pakistan and the United States of America’s positive relations will foster regional peace and prosperity.

He was speaking to visiting US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, who had approached him at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Pakistan, he added, appreciated its long-standing partnership with the United States.

He stressed the need of further strengthening bilateral relations in a variety of areas for the mutual benefit of the two countries.

The president welcomed the US Congresswoman and emphasised the significance of bilateral engagements that would promote understanding between the two countries.

He informed the visiting dignitary about the horrors perpetrated by Modi’s dictatorship against minorities, notably Muslims.

He said that India was committing genocide against Muslims and grave human rights crimes against them.

President Alvi also emphasised Pakistan’s role in promoting peace in the region, as well as its sacrifices in the fight on terror.

According to US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, both nations have enormous potential to enhance and expand their relations.

She praised Pakistan’s contribution in combating Islamophobia, notably in the passing of a UN resolution on the subject.

Earlier on Wednesday, US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar paid a visit to former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan at Bani Gala.

Senior PTI leaders, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Shireen Mazari, Zulfi Bukhari, and Shahbaz Gul, were also present at Imran Khan’s meeting with US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.

The discussion focused on Hindutva ideology in India and its devastation of Muslims. Imran Khan’s attempts to overcome Islamophobia were hailed by Omar, who stated Imran Khan provided essential leadership.

The US representative stated that voices against Islamophobia are being raised from all over the globe, that a law to remove Islamophobia is being introduced in the US Congress, and that religious prejudice, particularly against Muslims, must cease.

Ilhan Omar expressed gratitude to Imran Khan for being a strong voice against Islamophobia throughout the world, adding that he had wanted to see him for some time.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan welcomed the presence of the US congressman, saying that despite the obstacles, it was admirable that Ilhan Omar was aware of the struggle against Islamophobia. Former Prime Minister Khan praised her for taking a moral and gutsy stance on the problems.

On Wednesday, Muslim member of the US Congress Ilhan Omar met with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar in Islamabad.

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hina Rabbani Khar greeted Ilhan Omar and her delegation.

The Minister of State stated on the occasion that Pakistan and the United States have long-standing bilateral connections. She stated that Pakistan is eager to develop bilateral relations with the US and expand collaboration in several areas of mutual interest.

Hina Rabani Khar commended US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar for speaking out in favour of oppressed Kashmiris following India’s unilateral actions on August 5, 2019.

Tahir Javed, a prominent Pak-American Democratic politician, was also present at the meeting.
