Discussions between Russia and Ukraine  stalled.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday that talks between Moscow and Kyiv to position to end Russia’s almost month-long military assault in seasoned-Western Ukraine have stagnated.

“They (negotiations) have stalled currently,” he said after discussions in Moscow with his Kazakh counterpart, adding that Russia has still not received a response to a modern-day thought sent out five days ago.

The Russian foreign minister additionally stated that he believes Kyiv will not want to keep the negotiations going.

“It’s weird to me to hear daily statements from various Ukrainian representatives, including the president and his aides, that lead one to believe that they don’t need these conversations at all, that they’ve already resolved everything.”

Vladimir Medinsky, a Kremlin ally and Russia’s senior negotiator with Kyiv authorities, said on Friday that he had spoken with his Ukrainian counterpart.

Talks have been ongoing since the beginning of the conflict, but have yielded no solid outcomes.

Last week, Kyiv warned that talks with Russia to stop the war were “very tough.”

In an advance meeting with EU director Charles Michel on Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Kyiv of lacking consistency in its demands during the talks and of not being prepared to “search for collectively proper solutions,” according to the Kremlin.
