A 61-year-old man is planning to sail from the United States to France.

Peter Harley intends to row from Virginia Beach to La Trinité-sur-Mer, France.

He expects the journey to take at least three months.

“I’m not nervous,” Harley stated. “I’ve spent a lot of time on boats at sea in South Africa, so I kind of know what’s coming and I’m not scared.”

Harley is from South Africa and migrated to the United States in 2019.

He’s confident in his 24-foot rowboat, which includes a storage compartment, a sleeping cabin, and solar panels.

“I’m afraid the bathroom is simply a bucket,” Harley remarked.

The ship also has a desalinate, which cleanses and converts ocean water into drinking water.

Staying in touch with relatives will be easier with the solar panels.

The preparation for such a journey, according to Harley, is no laughing matter. It “takes a huge lot of discipline, concentration, and focus,” according to the author.

“Exercising for the trans-Atlantic expedition took 28 months, 13 of which were spent training seven days a week.”

For almost a year, Harley has been preparing himself. Eight months ago, he modified his eating habits to prepare his body for time away from the kitchen. He’ll consume protein bars, cereal, and pasta on board.

Bonnie Evans, his daughter, is equally enthusiastic about the voyage and claims she is not afraid.
