WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will allow you to quit groups quietly.

When you leave a group chat, everyone is notified, which might be awkward.

So if you’re quitting a chat, there’s no concealing it.

Fortunately, WhatsApp is working on a silent-exit feature that could be available this year.

The WhatsApp sleuths at WABetaInfo, who often scan the app for new features, shared a screenshot of the feature.

“This screenshot is extremely clear: when you exit a WhatsApp group, other participants in the chat will not be notified,” WABetaInfo explained.

“Only group admins will see who leaves the group; others will not.”

A system message is usually posted in the chat when you quit a group.

This informs the rest in the group that you’ve left.

Only the persons in charge of the group will notice the new update.

Your departure may still be noticed in a small group – at least gradually.

However, in larger gatherings, this may allow you to go silently.

Unfortunately, there is no set timetable for when the feature will be available to everyone.

“At the time, this feature is being developed on WhatsApp Desktop beta,” WABetaInfo revealed.

“It will be made available to users in a future release.”

WhatsApp made yet another significant modification to groups recently.

A mind-boggling 512 persons can now be invited to a single chat.

Before moving to a maximum of 100 individuals, WhatsApp group sizes were capped at 100.
