Trilateral consensus reached on CPEC expansion into Afghanistan

A trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan was held in Beijing.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar represented Pakistan at the meeting, which was also attended by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.

During the meeting, discussions were held on strengthening diplomatic ties, trade, infrastructure development, and cooperation in key development sectors.

All three sides agreed that collaboration between Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan is vital for regional peace and connectivity.

They agreed to deepen Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation and extend the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to Afghanistan.

The Ministers underscored their shared commitment to countering terrorism and fostering stability and development in the region.
