US sees renewed potential to resolve longstanding India-Pakistan issues

In a recent briefing, US state department spokesperson expressed cautious optimism about the prospects for lasting peace between India and Pakistan, emphasizing that the “potential of having these long-term problems resolved has returned.”
Speaking in the context of past tensions and ongoing concerns about cross-border violence and terrorism, the U.S. highlighted the importance of maintaining the current ceasefire and continuing diplomatic efforts.
“What’s very exciting and heartening is that America’s involvement and assistance made a difference,” said a State Department spokesperson, referencing the role the U.S. played in de-escalating a near-conflict situation.
Officials acknowledged that while a full resolution remains complex, the continuation of the ceasefire offers a window of opportunity for both countries to address underlying issues. The emphasis was on sustained dialogue and mutual cooperation to move toward lasting stability in the region.
