Asim Munir visits Iran to push for US-Iran peace, reopening of Strait of Hormuz

Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir visited Iran alongside Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi as part of Islamabad’s efforts to break the stalemate in the ongoing US-Iran conflict and seek lasting peace and stability in the region.

During his day-long visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir held meetings with Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, Representative of the Supreme Leader on the Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meetings focused on measures to prevent any further escalation of US-Iran tensions, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the expedited termination of the conflict.

The two sides also discussed regional peace and ways to resolve disputes through negotiations and reach a mutually acceptable settlement.

Immediate end to conflict stressed

The Pakistani and Iranian sides stressed the need for an immediate end to the ongoing conflict and discussed diplomatic options to prevent further instability in the region.

The military leadership also reiterated Islamabad’s continued efforts to restore peace and stability and find a negotiated solution to the crisis.
